Bank deposits hit EGP 155.6bn increase in Q1

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced a rise in the banking sector deposits by 155.6 billion pounds during the first quarter of this year to 3.485 trillion pounds at the end of March, compared to 3.329 trillion pounds at the end of December, an increase of 4.7 percent.

CBE said in a monthly report issued yesterday that government deposits rose from 516.2 billion pounds at the end of December to 539.15 billion pounds in March.

Non-governmental deposits rose by 132.7 billion pounds to 2.946 trillion at the end of March, compared to 2.813 trillion at the end of December.
