Tourism Minister Hisham Zazou and Georgia ambassador in Cairo, Archil Dzolya Hvily discussed tourism cooperation and the possibilities of running air flights between the two countries.

Zazou talks came as a continuation of the ongoing efforts to open up new tourism markets that will increase tourist flows into Egypt.

The Egyptian minister stressed the importance of activating the agreements signed between the two countries and the need to run direct flights between them for the purpose of increasing the number of Egypt incoming tourists, especially as all flights from Georgia are indirect.

“I also discussed the potential of launching a direct air route from Georgia to Cairo, especially since the former is located in the center of the Caucasus region, and it will, in the case of running a direct air route, become an important stopover linking Egypt with all Caucasus countries,” he added.

On his part, Georgian Ambassador said that the embassy expresses its gratitude to the Civil Aviation Minister, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation Authority and the governor of South Sinai, for their assistance to accomplish that significant step in the Egyptian-Georgian relations which will be fostered accordingly.

He pointed out that the step is deemed a historic agreement and a turning point in the Cairo-Tbilisi ties.
