The National Bank of Egypt (NBE), the biggest state-owned bank, is planning to launch 20 new branches providing e-banking services before the end of 2019 to cope with global developments in banking industry. The project also is part of the lender’s strategy aiming at developing infrastructure and technological systems as well as channels of offering services to customers, according to news statements by NBE chairman Hesham Okasha on the sideline of launching the first e-banking branch at City Stars Mall in Nassr City.
“E-banking branches would not be a substitute for their conventional counterparts; rather, it is a new modality to provide banking services to those, who prefer electronic and digital transactions”, Okasha said, adding that the project is intended to address young customers attracted by financial technology in its various forms.
Launching electronic branches for the first time in Egypt affirms the bank’s leading role in Egyptian banking market, he said, adding that the new e-branches will operate within the integrated system of the bank’s branches to offer high quality services to customers.
This affirms the bank’s constant desire to provide more advanced services tailored to different groups of customers, the senior banker said.
