Agility set to inject USD100mln investments into East Port Said port: SCEZ chairman

The initial estimate of logistics hub slated to be set up in East PortSaid zone by   Kuwait-based Agility, the world's leading provider of integrated logistics, may reach USD100mln in the first phase of the project, according to statements delivered by chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Admiral Mohab Mamish on the sidelines of ceremony marking the signing of a cooperation protocol with Agility deputy chairman Tarek Soltan.
"Agility is about to start preparing the economic and technical studies serving the project, as the logistics center is expected to become operational in the first half of 2020," said Mamish.
Agility is charged with developing the logistics axis at the backyard of East Port Said Port's current expansions in order to boost importing and warehousing raw materials, exporting and distributing final and intermediate goods via Suez Canal Corridor, according to a statement released by the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
The logistics provider will equip the Egyptian Customs with world-trusted solutions  inclusive of   the computerization of procedures and the streamlining of goods trading, bolstering the supply chains in a safe and fast manner, increasing the value-added features and cutting the supply chain costs of industrial operations in the diverse areas inside the SCEZ.
On the same vein, Tarek Soltan chairman of Agility said that working in SCEZ in general and in the East Port Said Port in particular will enable companies to get high-quality infrastructure as well as fast, easy and cost-effective logistics and customs services.
Agility-Egypt runs 43k sqm warehouses, 30k open storage areas, and 60k depots and handling facilities via 67 loading platforms in the 6th of October City.
Highly sensitive materials are transported by Agility nationwide as clients are provided with a feature for tracking cargoes electronically.
