Egypt participates for the first time in Brussels conference on Syria

Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri left the Chinese capital Beijing yesterday evening for Brussels to attend the mini-group meeting on Syria, which is composed of foreign ministers from the United States, America, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.

 Abu Zeid added that the Brussels meeting will discuss the latest developments on the Syrian arena, especially the escalation in the southern region and northern Syria.

The talks will also discuss the latest developments concerning the reduction of  the escalation, as well as the efforts of the UN envoy to Syria, Stefan de Mistura, in cooperation with the regional and international parties concerned, to push for a political solution to the crisis in accordance with the agreed terms of reference and relevant Security Council resolutions, most importantly 2254 resolution.
