Agriculture Minister discusses with IFAD how to improve income for small farmers

Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Dr. Ezzeddin Abu Setit  stressed the importance of the International Fund for Agricultural Development’s role in Egypt through its projects in combating poverty, improving income for small farmers and raising their economic and social level.

 Ezzeddin Abu Setit ‘s remarks came during a meeting with Dr. Abdul Karim Sama, the Regional Director of IFAD’s Cooperation Program with Egypt, and Dr. Dina Saleh, the new Director of the Regional Office of IFAD with Egypt, at the Ministry of Agriculture’s Headquarter.

 The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mona Mehrez, Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Livestock, Fisheries and Poultry, and Dr. Hisham Allam, Supervisor of External Agricultural Relations.

During the meeting, the two sides also reviewed the joint projects being implemented in Egypt, which include the field irrigation development project in the old lands, the project of strengthening the marketing capacities of small farmers, as well as the project of sustainable agricultural investments and improving livelihoods.
