A list of EGP900bn contributions of Egyptian ministries to the execution of Egypt's 2037 plan for developing the national water resources shows both ministries of Irrigation and Housing are grabbing a  70% share  totaling EGP630bn, according to a blueprint obtained exclusively by Al-Mal newspaper.
Ministry of Agriculture is slated to build projects worth EGP54bn, corresponding to 6% of total investments, Local Development Ministry to set up EGP81bn projects corresponding to 9%, Ministry of Tourism EGP18bn equal to 2%, and both Ministries of Industry and Environment are set to work jointly towards executing EGP117bnj projects, corresponding to 13% of total investments.
"Put in place in 2016, the plan's total investments  are poised to be evaluated in order to specify real needs," said head of planning & monitoring sector at Ministry of Irrigation Iman Sayed.
Ministry of Irrigation criticized the way Egypt is facing water-shortage challenges, citing lack of popular awareness about water rationalization and  insufficient inter-governmental co-ordination.
In previous statements, Minister of Irrigation Dr. Mohmed Abd El-Ati said that Egypt needs 114bn cubic meter of water, predicting the country to become a world leader in recycling sewage water in the span of  three years.
