The EU Delegation Head in Cairo, Ambassador Ivan Sorcous, affirmed the EU's commitment to supporting Egypt in the face of climate change.

In his inaugural address to the Climate Week conference, Sorcous noted that the European Union funds climate-related projects in Egypt up to 700 million euros as grants.

He added that these projects support companies and factories to reduce air and water pollution resulting from their business, pointing out that they also support the local authorities in the various governorates in the sustainable protection of the environment through solid waste management programs.

The European Union also participated in the financing of the largest wind farm in Africa in the Gulf of Oil in Egypt with a 30 million euro grant which contribute to the provision of clean energy and prevent carbon emissions by 400 tons per year.
