A panel with members from the House of Representatives’ planning and budget committee, which is tasked with examining the problems of state revenues agencies will hold a meeting on Tuesday with the heads of customs, general taxes and property taxes authorities to review what has been achieved over the past period.
During the meeting, the major problems facing each agency will be presented in order to be resolved for the purpose of maximizing state revenues, said the panel’s head Mervat Al Kasan.
Al Kasan told Al Mal newspaper that the group held meetings in the past sessions, during which it reviewed the problems of real estate taxation authority, adding that relevant legislations will be decided on during the current sessions.  Among these legislations are new customs act and property tax amendments, she added.
The panel is awaiting the referral of creating state tax authority bill, which was submitted by MP Mostafa Salem, who is the deputy head of the panel, to it, she said.
The draft law aims at disassociating tax authority with the ministry of finance and transforming it to an autonomous corporate body affiliated to presidency.
